On 30 September, Founding Partner Luigi Belluzzo spoke at “Oltre le Radici – Il modello del Nord-Est tra Europa, impresa e futuro” (“Beyond the Roots – The North-East Model between Europe, Business and the Future”). The event was organised by the Italian daily Il Gazzettino at the Scuola Grande di San Giovanni Evangelista in Venice.
He took part in the panel “Capital and Business Continuity: Investing in Change”, alongside Silvia Bernardi, Head of Corporate Business North-East at UniCredit, and Andrea Mazzucato, Managing Partner of 21 Invest. The discussion was moderated by journalist Angela Pederiva.
The panel focused on generational transition in family businesses and on the choice between selling the company or strengthening it. Luigi Belluzzo stressed that any decision should start from the real value of the business. Often, when the reasoning is taken further, an entrepreneur inclined to sell instead sees an opportunity to grow through acquisitions, including through bank financing or co-investment. Generational transition, he noted, must be planned well in advance and with the right tools. Those tools exist, but they need to be applied carefully and with method.
Other speakers during the day included Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Mayor of Venice Simone Venturini, President of the Veneto Region Alberto Stefani, President of the Veneto Regional Council Luca Zaia, and President of the Venice Biennale Pietrangelo Buttafuoco.
