The Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) – required from April 2 for short stays in the United Kingdom

What is the ETA?
The ETA is not a visa, but an electronic authorisation intended for non-resident foreign nationals who are exempt from visa requirements for stays of up to six months.

Validity and Use:
The ETA allows multiple entries into the UK for stays of up to six months at a time. It is valid for two years, or until the passport used for the application expires — whichever comes first. Travellers must use the same passport they used to apply for the ETA.

Cost:
The current cost to apply for an ETA is £10. However, this will increase to £16 starting from April 9, 2025.

How to Apply for the ETA:
Applications can be submitted online starting March 5, 2025. The UK Home Office has released a video tutorial explaining the application process. You can watch the video HERE

For more information and to submit your application, visit the official UK government website HERE.
